Donations to the Women of Valley Health’s Winchester Medical Center

Hello again! We are back with another finalized donation that rolled over into the new year. We spent lots of time collaborating with students within the school to help gain enough donations to hand-make blankets for the women at Winchester Medical Center’s Breast Cancer Center; however, we ended up getting almost 30 blankets, which requires a lot of work. Because of that, we decided to give our main contact at WMC a heads up and she was glad to take the donations in two separate parts. Thus, we will be sending this donation out including face masks, sleep masks, Vaseline chapstick, snacks, and some cross word puzzles for now. Within the coming weeks, The Chiaroscuro Project will be collaborating with Sherando High School’s National Honors Society to finish making the blankets in one to two meetings, we hope. We are extremely grateful for all of the support we have gained to carry out these donations and hope to continue finalizing some donations that have carried over from the past year.

Speaking of… we have a donation, possibly going out this week, as well, to Georgetown University’s Children’s Hospital. It has been so hard for us, due to weather and days off between us and the hospital, to correspond a drop-off date. We are so excited to get these self-care bags out to everyone who has patiently awaited the arrival!

In the coming days, we have some exciting meetings with some local, and state-wide, organizations that we hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with, so stay tuned! For now, we continue to stay focused on gaining some purchases on the Poshmark (link in blog), as well as, gaining some donations from sponsors and members of the community. We have already received countless donations to start the year off strong, but we hope to gain more in promotion of January’s Cervical Health Awareness Month, in correspondence to an in-state hospital (stay tuned).

For now, those are all of the updates we have. This year has been off to such a great start, and don’t forget, if you’re interested in getting into contact with us, feel free to reach out to us through the “Contact Us” link below. To conclude today’s blog entry, we wanted to announce our estimated items sent for 2023… an estimated amount of 1,500 items were sent in just six months to patients from Arizona, all the way to D.C.! We couldn’t thank our community enough for providing us with immense support and opportunities along the way. Until next time!
